Boston's Depth Proves Too Much for Dallas

Luka-Kyrie Duo Struggles as Celtics Ground Mavs Bigs

Game 3 Preview: Celtics at Mavericks, Wednesday, June 12, 7:30pm

The Boston Celtics' depth proved too much for the Dallas Mavericks in Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinals series, as the Celtics emerged with a 120-107 victory. Despite a strong performance from Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, the Celtics' balanced attack and stifling defense proved too much to overcome.

Doncic led the Mavericks with 33 points, but shot just 10-of-25 from the field and committed six turnovers. Irving added 24 points, but was held to 9-of-24 shooting. The Celtics, on the other hand, had six players score in double figures, led by Jayson Tatum's 29 points and Jaylen Brown's 27.

The Celtics also dominated the boards, outrebounding the Mavericks 52-36. Robert Williams III led the way with 15 rebounds, while Al Horford added 10. The Mavericks' big men, Kristaps Porzingis and Dwight Powell, were held to a combined 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The Celtics now lead the series 2-1 and will have a chance to take a commanding 3-1 lead in Game 4 on Wednesday night. The Mavericks will need to find a way to slow down the Celtics' offense and get more production from their big men if they want to avoid falling into a deeper hole.
